Common Names: Sunflower, Common Sunflower, Common Annual Sunflower
 
Description: Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) is a member of the Aster family (Asteraceae). The Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2, Vol. 5, p.126 recorded this Mexican and Peruvian native was first cultivated in England in 1596.
